Umbrella - ella - ella

Recently, I met a friend at our local scrapbook store to crop.  I am looking sooooo forward to the Fall, so I brought all kinds of Fall and Halloween products to play with.  And then when I sat down to stamp, didn't want to use any of them!  I kept thinking about the rain themed Taylored Expressions products that were displayed by the front door, and I just HAD to have them.  There was absolutely no way that I could make Fall cards when all I wanted to use was the Falling Rain Cutting Plate and When It Rains die set from Taylored Expressions.  So I gave up on Fall cards and bought both of them, as well as the Rain or Shine stamp set, and set off on my merry way.

Both of the cards I made used all 3 of those products and I can't gush over them enough!  The dies cut with one pass through my Big Shot...even the cutting plate die!  And red rubber is always reliable!  I decided to make one of the cards into a shaker card by using some seed beads.  It is awesome because when you shake it, it actually sounds like rain.  I hope you enjoy the cards.  And even more, I hope to see you again soon!

Have a good day.

So, Where've You Been, Kayla?

It's crazy how you blink and almost 2 years have gone by!  I have no exciting story about my time away...just that life happens.  I lost my job that allowed me to work from home, and when I found a new job, it is 45 minutes away (with no traffic) and on a super busy road.  It has taken me some time to adjust to losing more than 10 hours a week just to driving!!!

And oh how I have missed crafting in these last 2 years!  I hope that I can start incorporating some crafty time into my normal routine again, and since I didn't stop buying craft supplies these past 2 years, I have plenty of new stuff to explore.

I was looking for a way to jump start my crafting mojo this weekend and found the Color Throwdown challenge.

The teal, pink, and grey combo was just what I needed.  I knew immediately that I wanted to use my favorite Distress colors - Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers.  So I stamped the Penny Black On the Lake stamp and dog from the Newton's Nook Furr-ever Friends in SSS Slate ink and then Versamark, and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then I blended on the Distress Oxide inks and added a banner with a sentiment from the Newton's Nook stamp set.

I didn't intend this to be a pet sympathy card when I started, but as I was looking at the background, it just felt right.  I don't currently have a need for this card, but will be thankful to have it on hand when the need does arise.

I've enjoyed this Color Throwdown, and look forward to the next one!

Have a good day.
