Only Fish

My 13th wedding anniversary was in the last few days, and I wanted to make a card for my husband.  Since this is the first anniversary card that I have created for him, I wanted to let him know that he is the only fish in the sea for me.  Cheesy?  Yeah, probably, but look how cute!

I started by using several Tim Holtz Distress Ink minis to make the ocean background.  In order from the top to the bottom, I used Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, Dusty Concord, and Black Soot.  I adore how this came out, and even more so with a few water flicks!

I was super inspired by the new Avery Elle That Bites stamp set, and it started me down the journey for this card.  The deep sea fish are so much fun, and I can't wait to make other cards with them.

CYCI#122 - Stinkin' Cute

I am participating in the Can You Case It (CYCI) challenge for this week, which a sketch challenge.  You can see the sketch right here, if you want to participate.

I recently bought this Simon Says Stamp (SSS) Gingham background stamp, and feel in love!  I mean, come on!  This stamp is perfection!  I want to stamp it in every single ink color that I have, but alas, that would take a few days.  I just love the versatility of being able to create my own gingham paper in any color I need.

 I had the SSS Stinkin' Cute stamp set on my desk, and thought it would fit perfectly in the challenge.  I colored it up with some Copic markers, and finished the card with some Doodlebug glitter enamel dots and twine.

Green for the Graduate

It is amazing to me that I can be 32 years old, and have so many kids that I love already graduated from high school.  Today I get to add my cousin Nathan to that list.  He was my little buddy when I graduated high school so many years ago, and I have a picture of me in my cap and gown holding him.  I look forward to seeing what life has to offer him, and wish him the best as he starts the next chapter of his life.

I Ship It!

Over the weekend, I went to my local scrap store, Scrapbook Creations, and played with my favorite toys.  Paper, ink, and dies, of course!  I went with an old friend, met new friends, and had a fun day full of laughter and creativity.  I think Scrapbook Creations day is my favorite day of the month.

I know it's a little early, but the sea was calling me.  Well, calling me to make cards anyway.  The card for today is a late birthday card, and I know me well enough to know I'll need it this summer.  The cute SSS sailboat is rocking right along in those choppy waves from MFT.  Sidenote:  I would be SOOOO very seasick if I were on that boat!  And no outdoor scene would be complete without some Memory Box Stitched Clouds.  Add a little Copic coloring, some Bazzil cardstocks, and white embossing powder and you have yourself a card.

I hope you liked the card today, and it makes the sea call you too.

Bright, Bright, Sunshiny Day

As I've told you earlier this year, I tend to gravitate to pink when buying clothes, or painting walls, or making cards...pretty much anything really.  If it can be pink, it is.  But in an effort to use more colors of the rainbow (because they are awesome too), I chose yellow for this card over the weekend.  I started the card by stenciling Distress Inks (Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, and Squeezed Lemonade) onto a stencil I created from the Papertrey Ink Mighty Bloom die.  From there I decided to add the Simon Says Stamp Small Hello die, but with only using yellow and white, the details got lost.  Then I changed it to black, and POW!  What a statement!

Mother's Day Chrysanthemums

I don't know about you, but Mother's Day snuck up on me this year.  I have been working on a new account at work over the last month or so, and that has been taking all of my time and energy.  My crafty mojo took a break, so I needed a super easy mode Mother's Day card that still had an impact.  I tried stamping with a new layered flower stamp set, but it just wouldn't work,  I literally tried for hours, and just got more and more frustrated, so I fell back on the good old standby - a Distress Ink watercolor background.  I then cut out the Memory Box Chrysanthemum Bouquet die with my favorite black cardstock (Simon Says Stamp, by the way) and placed it overtop.  Boy howdy, that is a big die, but it is stunning!
