Monster Boo - CYCI #139

In a continuation of my Halloween series, I have a BOO-tiful card for you today. The challenge at Can You Case It this week is a 'Rainbow of Color' and the theme was picked by yours truly! In that honor, I really wanted to go rainbow-rific, and I think this card does just that!

I have had Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens (boy, what a mouthful!) for many months now and just never was pleased with how they colored. But then I saw that Strathmore Bristol paper is the key. I picked a pack up to try, and it makes a world of difference! I love how smoothly the Zigs blend on this paper. If you are having any issues with your Zigs not living up to the hype, please try the Bristol paper before you give up! I did some basic 2 color blending for these super cute rainbow monsters from the Lawn Fawn Monster Mash stamp set.  I framed the focal piece with some cardstock, glitter paper, and patterned paper from my LSS, and finished the card off with a rainbow of sequins.

I hope you will come play on the rainbow with us this week at CYCI!

Have a good day.

Spooky Shaker - CYCI #138

I have decided to do a small series of Halloween cards this year.  This is my first card in the series, and I'm kicking it off with a bang!  This shaker card for the Can You Case It challenge this week was a labor of love!

I started with the new Taylored Expressions Haunted Cutting Plate. When I saw this die on the shelf, I just knew I wanted some bats shaking around in the background of that frame.  That was way easier said than done!  It took me over an hour to get the shaker portion built because of how thin the top and sides of the die are.  Now, a smarter person may have moved on, but I am stubborn and persevered.  I'm glad I did, because I love this card!  I filled the shaker window with a die cut of a witch from the Impression Obsession Halloween Set, and plenty of ghosts from the Poppy Group of Ghosts die set.  I finished off the shaker bits with some purple bat confetti, white stars, and black and green sequins.  The sentiment is from a small Art-C stamp set that I found at Michaels.

I sure hope to see you play along with this shaker challenge.  The rest of the Design Team at CYCI have awesome shaker cards to share and provide inspiration.  Check them out and get to shakin'!  =)

Have a good day.

New Little Peanut - CYCI #137

One of the first cards that I gave away was a baby card (check it out here if you want). I had made plenty of cards before that, but they were just playing around, and they never left my craft room. Since then, I have made a few other baby cards, but they always seem to be for little boys. So when I saw the color combination for the Can You Case It challenge this week, I thought it would be the perfect time for me to make a card for a baby girl. Now, I don't know anyone having a little girl, but it was too perfect to pass up.

I started by cutting the Impression Obsession Patchwork Elephant die with some music note patterned paper that I found in my stash. Actually, all of the papers on this card are just random pieces that I found in my stash. I then cut 3 tags from the Simon Says Stamps Large Tags, and layered them up to provide a focal point for the elephant. The precious sentiment comes from an A Muse Studio stamp set called Little Peanuts, which appears to be retired. I finished off the card with some Nuvo Drops in Silver Lining and Ebony Black.

I hope to see you play along with this awesome color challenge at CYCI!

Have a good day.

Rainbow Cake - CYCI #136

My card for this week's Can You Case It challenge follows the sketch almost exactly.  That doesn't happen very often with me lately, but as I was playing with the pieces, they worked  when laid out into the sketch.  I used the Greeting Farm Layer Cake stamp set, and cut it it out with a Gina Marie Pierced Fancy Nested Label die.  Then I used the new Avery Elle Pierced Rectangle dies to cut the patterned paper layers.  The sentiment uses the Taylored Expressions Happy Summer Banner die, with a piece of a sentiment from the Avery Elle Hanging Banners stamp set.

I hope to see you use the sketch to play along with us this week!

Have a good day.
